Marriage, whether monogamy or polygyny as practiced in our society assigns the responsibility of providing to the man.
A man who is splitting bills with the wife has no business seeking another. The reason being that he cannot fulfil the most basic requirement assigned to him as a husband if he does so.
Unfortunately, many don’t consider this before they present the case of polygyny.
It is not strange for the affection and love in this marriage to be affected negatively.
A man permitted polygyny is still expected the wisdom to do it right and also provide accordingly. Even in the best of cases, he’d need to still be emotionally intelligent enough to calm the wife and create a sense of balance.
If it has gotten to the point where fees aren’t being paid then you need to seek mediation. However, regardless of this, the final decision will be up to you on whether you want to stay on or not.
If you decide you can no longer cope and want to leave, understand that it will affect the children. This doesn’t mean they won’t be fine, they can be fine but of course it would need a lot of work.
Make it a legal process if you so desire so that child custody is also legally addressed.
Your case as presented is about him taking responsibility, if he begins to do that, will everything be okay? If so, this case can still be resolved.
below is a terrible story of how polygyny nearly kill a woman.
“I’m married for 15 years,I wake up one day and realized I just don’t luv him anymore more,I always cry after having sXx with him,I feel like am being rXped sometimes, and All dis started wen he wanted to take a second wife while we are sharing d bills together, which I always told him to take his responsibilities b4 dat, so due to a lot of querrel, third party interference, divorce, not taking care of our needs, like feeding, children’s school, etc all dis is killing me I was sick went to d hospital yesterday d doctor told me my BP is too high at my age,dat I should try and control it,my fair is will my kids b okay, can he b able to take care of Dem, should I go with Dem how do I explain dis to my family, if I seek for divorce Wil My decision b okay, am just confused, but d truth is dat my body and soul is no longer with him, thank you”
